What this tool does
Fertility treatment is not one-size-fits-all, and the terminology alone can be hard to follow. This tool gives you a plain English summary of the treatments that may be relevant to your situation, so you walk into your next appointment with a clearer idea of what is on the table and what the options actually involve.
It is not a diagnosis and it will not replace your consultant. Think of it as a starting point for your own reading and the questions you want to raise with a specialist.
Who it is for
It is aimed at anyone in the UK who is trying to conceive and has started to wonder whether they need medical help. That might be someone who has been trying for a year or more without success, someone with a known issue such as PCOS, endometriosis or low sperm count, a same-sex couple looking at donor options, or a single person considering solo parenthood.
It is also useful if you have already had one or two rounds of treatment and want to understand what usually comes next, or if you have been offered something like IUI or IVF and want to read about it in straightforward terms before agreeing.
How it works
You answer a short set of questions about your circumstances, including how long you have been trying, any diagnoses you have been given, and any treatments you have already tried. The tool then produces a written summary covering the options most likely to apply to you, what each one typically involves, roughly what to expect in terms of timelines, and sensible questions to put to your GP or fertility clinic. Your answers are not saved or shared, and you can run it as many times as you like if your situation changes or you want to compare different scenarios.
